Glen Ridge

You know you're in Glen Ridge when you see the trademark gaslights lining the quiet tree canopied streets. There are only 3,000 gaslights remaining in operation in the entire United States and Glen Ridge has 666 of them. Glen Ridge is a residential community of about 7,000 people. There are 2,200 houses in its 1.5 square miles which are bounded by Bloomfield, Montclair, Orange and East Orange. The main street running through Glen Ridge is Ridgewood Avenue, thought to be one of the prettiest streets in New Jersey. The schools are historically rated in the top 10 in New Jersey and frequently rank in the top 5.

For recreation, play and sports, Glen Ridge includes: Carteret Park, Forest Avenue Field, Sherman Avenue Field, Clay Field, Hurrell Field. and Freeman Tennis Courts. The Glen Bike Path, Gazebo and Freeman Gardens are beautiful places to picnic or just enjoy a quiet and beautiful space. And you can take a dip and visit with your neighbors at the Glen Ridge Pool.

Exquisite Victorian, Colonial and Tudor style homes fill the landscape in Glen Ridge throughout the town. There are also a small number of condominiums and one mid-rise coop building.

Glen Ridge Commute

Glen Ridge is served by the midtown direct, Montclair/Boonton line and the train station is in the center of town. Two jitney services operate during rush hours allowing citizens from anyplace in town easy access to the train. DeCamp buses provide service to Port Authority in Manhattan and New Jersey Transit provides rail service to mid-town Manhattan and to Hoboken with connecting PATH service to Manhattan.
